Have you ever wanted to be in catering
but don't know how or where to start?
Perhaps you are in the catering industry already
but dream of running your own business.
We can help.
Oakden Leisure Holdings offer small business startup packages
using equipment built by its subsidiary
Embers Catering Equipment.
There are many ways to start in the food business, Oakden
Leisure and
its joint company Apex Catering Services have operated at just about
every level over the last 30 years.
-
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
If you are just starting out, then you need to know
about food hygiene - how to prepare and handle food safely. Your
local
Environmental Health department can advise on where to enrol for a training
course to obtain your certificate.
-
Register Your Business.
Catering companies should be registered with their
local Environmental Health department at least 28 days before starting
up. An appointment will be made for an Officer to come and see where
food is to be stored and prepared. The premises can be a building, trailer,
van or wherever you intend working from. The EHO is there to help and advise
so this is the time to discuss your operating procedures and ask or answer
any queries.
-
Insuring your Business
If you become a member of NCASS, (Nationwide Caterers
Association - formerly MOCA) you will also receive all necessary information on
environmental health to comply with most new and upcoming government rules and
regulations.
-
Finance
A finance leasing agreement allows your business to get
the equipment it needs while the costs are spread over a
number of regular payments. You can also approach your bank for finance
or look in Yellow Pages or on the
web for
local companies.
We supply you with a quotation and after having it approved, Embers will invoice
the finance company
for the goods.
